From Raspberry to Fig

Today Matthew bought a couple of figs at the produce store. This is in honour of the growth of the little one in my womb, with whom I am now 11 weeks pregnant! The average size of a foetus at 11 weeks is approximate to a small fig! Last week it was approximate to a small kumquat; a while ago it was a raspberry. Not knowing whether this will be a little she, or a little he, we have taken to referring to this emerging person as our little raspberry or kumquat, as the size may be...

But I think that kumquat may have stuck.

Our baby's fingers and toes are fully formed...nails are beginning to grow and bones beginning to harden. I can hardly contain my excitement. Especially since, just in the last few days, my belly has been looking rather rounded, and not at all in a flabby sort of way. It is a quite firm kind of roundness!

I am so very happy for you both. What a wonderful blessing. What part of the world will you be in when you have the baby?

Congratulations! How exciting! We always refered to Owen as baby grape, as that was the size he was when we found out about him.

Multiple very very big smiles and lots of joyous laughter.

Now, on to the advice. Use Burts Bees Almond hand cream (there is a cow on the label, for some reason) on your stomach to ward off stretch marks. Although Ben was only inside for 8 months, I have no stretch marks at all, which is kind of nice.

I'll pass on more "mommy advice" as I think of it...
